Yunuen was born in Mexico and raised in East Palo Alto, CA. She participated at the UCLA Labor Center Dream Summer Fellowship through College Track. She formed part of the fellowship for two years, with both years being placed here, at Community Legal Services in East Palo Alto (CLSEPA). Yunuen became accustomed to CLSEPA with her participation in Dream Summer, and also by being a volunteer with the Economic Advancement team.
Yunuen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from UC Santa Cruz (UCSC). While at UCSC, Yunuen worked for the Dean of Students office to provide basic needs for students and families at UCSC and in the community. She organized campus-wide events and distributed food, as well as assisted students in applying for the CalFresh program. Yunuen always aimed to advance student/family knowledge as well as their participation in programs that could help them advance and thrive while at UCSC.
Yunuen is very passionate about teaching her community about the resources available to them and she will use her role as an Immigration advocate to educate the community about their rights and other resources available to them. Hablo Espanol!
