Hyun-Mi joins CLSEPA with two decades of experience in working with low-income communities of color in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest. Hyun-Mi earned a Juris Doctor degree from Seattle University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in history from UCLA. At the law school, Hyun-Mi was the Editor-in-Chief of the American Indian Law Journal, and she interned at the Tulalip Office of Civil Legal Aid, the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project and the Earthjustice. Prior to joining CLSEPA, Hyun-mi worked as Assistant General Counsel at the Agricultural Labor Relations Board (ALRB). From 2022-2024, Hyun-Mi was the Director of Community Engagement and Public Policy at Puente de la Costa Sur in Pescadero and provided advocacy on behalf of immigrant farmworkers. She also worked several years as a community organizer and an advocate for immigrant survivors of human trafficking and violence against women at the Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach in San Francisco to where she returned as an Equal Justice Works Fellow (2019-2021).
