MARIA MATA, ESQ. | DEPUTY DIRECTOR

Maria’s passion for public service began as an outgrowth from her experiences growing up in East Palo Alto. Prior to joining us in February 2017, Maria worked as a government benefits attorney for the LIBRE project at the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County, where she represented immigrant clients facing an array of health and public benefits issues. Maria holds a law degree from UC Hastings College of the Law and worked for various district attorney offices across the Bay Area during her time as a law student. She received her B.A. in Spanish and B.S. in Political Science with a minor in Latin American Studies from Santa Clara University.
