Joana was born in Mexico but grew up in East Palo Alto before her and her family moved to the East Bay where she finished high school. She moved back in 2010, and since then, has always had a passion for helping and advocating for the underdog. In her most recent work, Joana has worked in a high school helping students that face learning disabilities, physical disabilities, social anxieties, and emotional abuse. Joana became a first generation college graduate in 2020 when she graduated from Cañada College with her degree in Psychology, Sociology, and Social Behavior Sciences. She hopes to continue her college career in an online program offered by Humboldt University where she plans to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in leadership studies. Joana is proud to be part of a team so dedicated to social equality and justice.
